Twinkle, Twinkle Sparkle Teeth
Practice Good Oral Hygiene |
Brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste and flossing are cardinal
for sparkling teeth and a healthy smile. Don’t be surprised to
find that nutrition has an effect on your dental health too!!
Consuming nutrient-rich foods from every food group is
pivotal for healthy gums and teeth. A balanced diet rich in fruits,
vegetables, protein foods, dairy products and whole grains is essential for
ideal oral health including overall health.
Foods for Optimum Oral Health
- Eat calcium-rich foods such as low-fat or fat-free milk yogurt, cheese, fortified soy drinks and tofu, canned salmon, almonds and dark leafy vegetables to promote strong teeth and bones.
- Consume phosphorus which is found abundantly in foods such as eggs, fish, lean meat and dairy products for strong teeth.
- Vitamin C promotes gum health, so eat plenty of citrus fruits, tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, potatoes and spinach.
Taking care of your baby? Don’t try to appease your infant, toddler
or young child with a bottle of juice, formula or milk. Continuous bottle
sucking bathes the teeth and gums in liquid which can lead to tooth decay. Read more about caring for your
baby's teeth at www.firsteatright.com.
Along with healthy eating, practice good oral hygiene, such as brushing
teeth with fluoridated toothpaste twice a day, flossing once a day, drinking
fluoridated water and seeking regular oral health care.
